The First Time Golfer

Okay, so it has finally happened, you have just been invited to go golfing and you have never played golf before. This could make for a restless and awkward time for you. The easiest part to concentrate and work on is making sure you are wearing the correct attire, and that you have obtained the proper equipment.

So, What Will You Wear?

Of course, initially, this does not sound like such an important issue to be fussing with, but you may be in for a rude awakening if you perceive that wearing your old tennis shoes and a tank top out on the golf course is proper attire. You may not be aware that most golf courses enforce rules and regulations in respect to the attire you wear. This is mainly due to the fact that the sport of golf has always been regarded as a game of sophistication and class, which is played by those who have impeccable patience and confidence in their abilities. So for you, the novice, you will want to at least wear a pullover shirt that has a collar and either long or short sleeve will do.

Depending on the weather, you will want to wear a semi casual pair of shorts or pants. Basically, you are not going to be donning your favorite pair of cut-off jean shorts or that ultra-holey pair of jeans you just refuse to throw out. Generally, most people will wear shorts or pants that have a casual business like feel to them such as the style of Dockers.

If you choose to wear a hat or cap, it is important that you do not wear anything that is too bold and or possibly offensive. You should be respectful of others who are out there on the green and set the best example. When playing at a golf course, those who are already club members will be expecting you to follow and abide by the rules and regulations dictated by the golf course.

You will definitely need to have money to play golf. For the first time golfer, you do not want to be caught off guard by the expenses. If you do not have golf clubs or balls, it will cost you money to rent. You will also be charge a fee to play, a fee for a golf car or cart to pull your clubs and a fee to rent the proper shoes if you do not have them. Besides the rental items, you may also wish to purchase beverages or a snack. So yes, you will need to bring money.

Also, you will need to be prepared to pay a set fee for the holes you are going to play, whether it is 9 holes or all 18. However, if you are playing with a group of people, this will cut down on your total expenses.

Playing golf is not as expensive as it seems; it will all depend on how you prepare before you arrive at the golf course and how many holes you will intend to play. Many items can be purchased inexpensively and lots of golf courses will charge a smaller fee for those who are playing in a group or party.
